Real contest prep is not a template. From the day the deficit starts, every variable matters — training intensity, calorie pacing, sodium and water management, sleep, biofeedback, posing, and the dozen psychological pieces nobody talks about. The athletes who peak right are the ones whose coaches are reading the body in real time and adjusting accordingly. That is what we do here.

Team Kush has prepped athletes from their first local NPC show through to IFBB Pro Card qualifications. The same framework applies — the only thing that changes is the level of detail, the timeline, and the federation strategy.

  1. 20-16

    Deficit Initiated

    Calorie deficit starts immediately. Conditioning intensifies. Posing introduced early to build stage stamina. Weekly check-ins drive every adjustment from here on.

  2. 16-12

    Body Composition Dial-In

    Macros tightened based on real-time response. Training volume manipulated to preserve muscle in the cut. Posing twice weekly minimum. First real change visible.

  3. 12-8

    Conditioning & Refinement

    Detail starts showing. Cardio adjusted, weak points isolated, posing transitions polished. Photo days every 2 weeks to track progression honestly.

  4. 8-4

    Hardening Phase

    Final body composition adjustments. Posing daily. Water and sodium baselines established. Supplementation refined. Detail and dryness become the focus.

  5. 4-1

    Polish & Finalize

    Look is locked in. Daily posing. Detail work and tan trials. Mental rehearsal for stage. Final fine-tuning of every variable.

  6. PW

    Peak Week

    Daily protocol — water and sodium manipulation, carb loading strategy, training tapered, posing dialed. Coach in constant contact from 7 days out.

  7. DAY

    Show Day

    Pre-judging pumps, last-minute carb/water adjustments, tan touch-ups, on-stage cues. Coach available all day, on-site when possible.
